Champion Suffolk
2011 NAILE
Shown by Andy Sloan
Bred by Greiner Club Lambs

Placed by Hill

First off, I would like to thank Andy Sloan for his hard work and dedication without a great showman a great lamb is just a sheep. Also thank you to Randy Hill for placing this lamb! The lamb has a great pedigree.  His mother is a Toga X Bodacious.  She has raised a ram called Gridiron who was purchased by the Daniels flock of Indiana, last year she had popular second at San Antonio shown by the Cantrell family and has two keepers in our flock. She doesn't look the part but definitely produces. The lambs sire is Rockstar (Eccentric X Tex Despain's great Miller ram). Rockstar was raised by Elliott CLS.We own him with Jason Wattonville and JD Stucker.  Rockstar this year dammed the Iowa State Fair  4-H Reserve Grand Market Lamb. It was our first crop by Rockstar whose line of sheep has been very maternal for the Elliott and Chabot flocks. We are keeping 65 Rockstar ewes and two sons that we believe will help us in the near future.

Harold was a product of our embryo program and mates of this sold to Shell, Rockin S, Begalka, Simpson, and Annuschat.  We also put four ewes back into our program as replacements. This "Smokey" ewe had another great flush this year with 14 confirmed pregnancies, so make sure to stop by and check them out.

Champion Southdown
2011 NAILE
Shown by Ty Mitchell
Bred by Harbour Livestock

Harbour Livestock has been extremely fortunate to have raised the Champion Southdown Market Lamb at the North American International Livestock Exposition for three years in a row.  We have been very pleased with the how our sheep have competed outside of Texas.  Our flock was started over thirty years ago as my 4-H project.  Over the years we added genetics from some of the higher profile flocks in the country.  The past ten years we have concentrated our genetics around an old buck we raised named “R25”.  He sired CO2 in 2006, out of Tristan`s first show lamb “Jessie”.  CO2 is the backbone of our flock.  He has produced some of our best wethers as well as our younger stud rams like “H2”, “Jag” and “505”.  The 2009 & 2010 Champions were sired by CO2 while this years Champion was sired by 505.  We are very excited about our lambs that will be shown in Texas this season, as well as our future in the Southdown business.

Grand Champion Market Lamb (Hampshire)
2011 American Royal
Shown by MacKenzie Fruchey
Bred by Wheaton Hampshires

Placed by Hill

First of all, a special thanks and congratulations to McKenzie Fruchey and Samantha Raute on a great year and Randy Hill for placing the Grand and Reserve at the 2011 American Royal.  It's an honor to have such great showmen exhibit our livestock.

We have been raising sheep on our farm for 90+ years and these lambs are the result of a very disciplined breeding program.  Although both the grand & reserve are sired by different rams the maternal side are very similar and represent our genetics combined with industry leaders.

McKenzie's lamb is an Untouchable x Exile x Pipeline
- This lamb's mother is sired by Exile on our top Pipeline daughter that was damned by Miller 3240 (Supreme Champion Ewe at 2003 Midwest Stud Ram Sale).  This was just her 2nd lamb but his grandmother can be found in numerous champions and stud rams across the country like "Best Buy" (Despain) and "Boone" (Strickland, Poling and Whitaker).

Reserve Grand Market Lamb (Hampshire)
2011 American Royal
Shown by Samantha Raute
Bred by Wheaton Hampshires

Placed by Hill

Samantha's Reserve Grand Champion lamb was a True Blood x Exile x Classic's Mom - Like the grand, this lamb is out of an Exile daughter that is a result of our flush program mating Exile on Classic's mother.  This was her first lamb but ewes from the same family produced our top 2 stud rams this year.  A ram we call "Classic Touch" who is sired by Untouchable on a full sister to this lambs mother (Exile x Classic's Mom) and "The Situation" who is sired by True Blood on our leading flush ewe (Exile x DaVinci x Classic's Mom).

Champion Crossbred
2011 American Royal
Shown by Luke Davis

Champion Suffolk
2011 American Royal
Shown by Alex Raute
Bred by MacLennan Club Lambs

Placed by Hill

We would like to thank the Raute girls and all who were involved in the work and preparation of this champion Suffolk.  It's no secret these girls are among the industries very best and we sincerely appreciate their dedication to presenting our wether at the maximum level.  This sheep in particular was sired by Swagger and out of a Time x Ambush ewe.  He is the maternal brother to our 2010 Colorado State Fair Grand Champion.  This one was sold thru the 2011 Premier 10 sale in Richmond, Indiana.  Give us a call this spring and come see our 2012 lamb crop.

Bred by Still Club Lambs

We would like to congratulate the Freund family for exhibiting the Reserve Grand at Aksarben! We would also like to thank JB Massey for placing the lamb. Thank you for your continued support of our breeding program. The Reserve Grand at Aksarben was sired by Rampage (CEO grandson) and the dam was out of a Timberwolf son. With these genetics and our new ram additions at work, 2012 looks to be an exciting year!

Champion Division I
2011 Ak-Sar-Ben
Shown by Shelby Springman
Bred by N&H Livestock

"Pedro" as we know him, was the Champion Division 1 Winner at the 2011 Aksarben Livestock Show and was shown by Shelby Springman of Wilmont, MN.  This sheep was just starting to hit his stride when we took him to Omaha as we had great aspirations for him this fall show season.  We greatly appreciated all of the comments about "Pedro" from our friends and fellow sheep breeders who had a chance to see and appreciate him.  He was sired by Premium (Unleaded x Smart Money) and dammed by a quality female we raised out of Grand Drive.  We also wanted to take the time to thank the Springman family for all of their hardwork and support of our program over the years.  It is truly a blessing to be able to work with the families that we have over the years and we look forward to starting new relationships in the future!  Heidi and I are both extremely excited in the direction our program is heading and the future of N & H Livestock.

Champion Division II

Bred by Simpson Livestock

Mitch Stahley from Colorado showed the Champion Division III market lamb. Congratulations to Mitch on your success!

Champion Division V
2011 Ak-Sar-Ben
Shown by Jenna Frink
Bred by Frink Show Lambs

He is out of “Conclusive” which is a buck we purchased from Allred Elliott in 2010, “Conclusive” is an “Authentic” son and a Cabaniss ewe.  The ewe is an “Advantage” daughter, so the lamb is actually a double bred “28” x “Composure”.  The “Conclusive” lambs this year did a tremendous job for us, both the wethers and ewe lambs.  We look forward to this year’s lamb crop by breeding the “Conclusive” daughters to our MacLennan buck we bought this year, who is a “Future” son bred very much like the Grand lamb at the Texas State Fair this year.  Be sure a come by this spring and take a look.
