Where do you live?
Indianapolis, Indiana
Married/Kids?
I am not married… but hope to be some day!
College/Major?
I majored in Agribusiness at Kansas State University.
What is your job/career?
I have worked for Dow AgroSciences for 5.5 years and have loved every minute of it! I was living on the west coast working in sales for the first 4 years, and then relocated to headquarters as a Marketing Product Manager for our insecticides business.
Has showing impacted your career?
Absolutely! Commitment to success and a competitive spirit have been a consistent focus throughout my career. Growing up in the show ring helped build these skills. We all know the hard work and commitment it takes to be ready on show day, and these lessons have carried with me into my career.
What do you feel your biggest accomplishment is thus far?
When I was in college, I had the honor to serve as the 2004 K-State Student Ambassador. They announced I was elected during halftime of the homecoming football game… that was a really sweet day!
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
I would love to have a family, a career and a home in the country.
What was your favorite show? Why?
The American Royal, always! It was my first national show and holds many wonderful memories for me. My family had really fun traditions at the Royal.
Favorite lamb you showed? Why?
His name was Prince and he was champion hamp at the Royal in 2001. I loved to show him, he stuck perfect every time. I can still remember his structure, his muscle, the way he moved on the walk... he was very special to me.
What did you enjoy the most about showing?
I really enjoyed spending time with my family. It was so much fun traveling to the shows, setting up the stalls, deciding where we were going to eat, strategizing, getting our lambs ready and leaving it all in the ring, win or lose.
What do you miss most about showing?
Well, the hand shake was always nice, but I miss building memories with my family the most. A good laugh, the camaraderie, getting chewed on if you didn’t have your lamb just right... it was all so much fun.
If you could go back and do one thing over (showing wise), what would it be?
Easy... Talk my mom into saving "Longton" for me to show at the Royal, instead of letting my brother, Travis Stroble, take him to the Kansas State Fair! Kandy Schminke picked "Longton" to win grand overall in 2003 and I really was so happy for my brother and our family to have raised grand... but man did I want to take him to the Royal!!
Who helped you along the way the most?
My Aunt, Deb Ott. What an amazing woman I had to help me along the way. She taught me how to show, feed, deal with adversity, keep going when you’re down, but the greatest life lesson she instilled in me is integrity.
What is one piece of advice for those looking to go into your career?
Get to know people in the company or industry, believe in yourself, allow the small victories in life to create a swell of confidence, know that you will succeed and always ask for the job.
If you had two lambs in the grand drive, who would you get to show the other one?
I would choose my brother, Travis Stroble.
Thank you Kristy and best wishes in the future!
