Married/Kids?
I married Katlyn Urban on May 15, 2010.
College/Major?
I attended Oklahoma State University and majored in Agricultural Education.
What is your job/career?
Inside Sales Manager at Submersible Pumps Inc.
How has showing impacted your career?
Showing instilled in me a dedication to do the best I can at everything I do. This has helped me move up very quickly within the company here at SPI. Through my showing experiences it has prepared me to handle demands of customers and co-workers, deadlines, and stress. In my career I must adapt quickly to changing conditions and information in order to correctly do my job, just like in the show ring.
What do you feel your biggest accomplishment is thus far?
Being the best big brother I can be to my brother and sister. Graduating from Oklahoma State University and getting married.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
Enjoying life & hopefully raising kids by then!
What was your favorite show? Why?
Louisville. There was just something about the green woodchips plus everybody is there.
Favorite lamb you showed? Why?
LO (Leftover) - He was one of the last 5 sheep at Johnsons and we took him as a project sheep. He ended up only being shown once and he was the Reserve Grand at the Oklahoma Youth Expo in 2002 the year I had Grand and Reserve.
What did you enjoy the most about showing?
Spending time with my family. Seeing all of my friends and extended family that showed.
What do you miss most about showing?
Spending time with my family.
If you could go back and do one thing over (showing wise), what would it be?
Move to Texas to show at the big shows in Texas.
Who helped you along the way the most?
My parents. They were always there! Dad helped by picking out the lambs, helping exercise and feed them, and hauled me and the lambs to the shows. He also taught me how show, pick out lambs, feed, exercise, and get them ready for a show. Mom helped by making the blankets and covers for my lambs, she always had dinner ready when we got done at the barn, and of course she took millions of pictures everywhere we went.
What is one piece of advice for those looking to go into your career?
Keep your grades up in school. Don’t burn any bridges with any of your contacts you never know when you will need something from one of them.
If you had two lambs in the grand drive, who would you get toshow the other one?
I would have to pick between my brother and sister, but they were too young when I was showing. Jade Terbush was the guy I went to!
Thank you Kashen and best wishes in the future! |
