You’re done shearing and feeding lambs, the troops are gathered up, and you’re ready to go back to the hotel and realize you have no idea where to grab a bite to eat. Or maybe you are wanting to head out for a little night life and don't have a clue where to look. Through showing livestock, many of us are fortunate to have the opportunity to travel across the country for shows, sales, judging, or just to look at stock. We often forget or just don’t have time to plan for this part of the trip. Everybody loves to discover that great restaurant or take in some of the local sights & scenes in the down time. We hope our latest feature “DESTINATION” gives you a brief overview of what to do once the sheep work is done for the day.
 This week, our feature show is Ak-Sar-Ben’s River City Roundup in Omaha, Nebraska. Ak-Sar-Ben is open to exhibitors from Nebraska, Minnesota, South Dakota, Colorado, Kansas, Iowa, Wyoming, and Missouri, and is held in the state-of-the-art Qwest Center (pictured right). In addition to the 4-H Stock Show, the River City Roundup features a rodeo and two concerts – Sawyer Brown (Friday) and Jack Ingram (Saturday).
Perhaps the best part of Omaha is The Old Market District (pictured below), which is just a short walk up the hill from the Qwest Center. The restaurants in this area are phenomenal. Whether it’s a steak, Italian, or just your American hamburger you are after – you’ll be sure to find something in this historic part of the town that will suit what you are looking for. My personal favorite is the Upstream Brewing Company – their food is amazing and the setting adds to the experience as the building was previously an old firehouse.
 Aside from great restaurants, there’s no shortage of nightlife in The Old Market area. In addition, Omaha is the home to many casinos, each of which offers various entertainment options for gamblers and non-gamblers.
A few other attractions in Omaha that may be worth a stop include:
the Ak-Sar-Ben Aquarium, home of the largest catfish display in the US, and also the Henry Doorly Zoo.
