Championdrive.com is pleased to present this week's, “Beyond the Winner's Circle” featuring Chad Walker from Stephenville, Texas. We invite you to read our interview with Chad below. Please continue to check back for our next edition of “Beyond the Winner's Circle”.

College/Major?
I attended and graduated from Tarleton State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Services and Development and a Master of Science Degree in Agricultural Education.

What is your job/career?
I am an Agricultural Professor at Cisco College, Cisco, Texas.

How has showing impacted your career?
Yes showing has impacted my career in many ways through hard work and dedication. Without showing animals as long as I did I am not sure that I would have been able to have the skill of maximizing my time in a positive manner to reach a goal that I have set to reach.

What do you feel your biggest accomplishment is thus far?
Finishing school and achieving every goal I set for myself.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
My ten-year goal is to continue teaching at Cisco College. I am also an alum of this program and have a vision of growing this program, coupled with the Abilene program, to the point where we expand the faculty by two more teachers to accommodate class offerings.

What is your favorite lamb that you showed? Why?
Rootbeer was my favorite lamb. This was a blue sheep I showed my junior year in high school that had a personality better than any lamb I have ever seen and he never placed below second in class anywhere we took him.

What did you enjoy the most about showing?
The best thing about showing was the social aspect; second would have to be the love of competition.

What do you miss most about showing?
I still go to shows all the time and the thing that I miss most about every show I go to is not being able to go out there and get my shoes into the dirt and do what needs to be done to be first in line at the end of the day.

If you could go back and do one thing over (showing wise), what would it be?
I would show every chance that I could all across the U.S. I pretty much just stayed in Texas and now I realize the opportunities I missed.

Who helped you along the way the most?
There are a number of people who helped me throughout my show career and they still help me to this day. My brother would be at the top by a long way! Growing up and showing all through school, he is the one who taught me everything and the one who pushed me into the person I am today. Without his support and help, there is no way I would be reaching the goals that I once thought were unreachable.

What is one piece of advice for those looking to go into your career?
Hard work and clean living is most important. Always set goals that you do not think are possible and every morning when you wake up make sure you do something to move you closer to those main goals.

If you had two lambs in the grand drive, whom would you get to show the other one?
Well this might be the toughest question I have had all day. So I am going to have to go with the luck of having two more in the Grand drive. Erica Walker would show one because I have taught her most of what she knows about showing and know that she would do whatever she could to make that lamb look as good as she possible could for me. Ross Hargrove would be the other one for the same reason. The main reason I picked these two is because I taught them ALMOST everything I know and think I might still have the upper hand on, them so I would get the first hand shake.
